| WHAT ARE POINT TO POINT CIRCUITS? T-1s | |

Point-to-Point Circuits are just what they sound like. It's a wire that goes directly from one of Locl.Net's locations to yours. It is a dedicated; secure connection between you and Locl.Net. Who needs them? This is for the company that needs the best possible performance and security. These circuits are not for the casual Quake player who wants an edge over the competition. T-1's are for businesses that have consistently high bandwidth needs and the need to have a 24/7 connection to the 'Net. Telephone Company Circuit Pricing There are two ways that a telephone company will configure a large bandwidth circuit. One is Point-to-Point and the other is Frame Relay. It is Locl.Net's experience that Frame Relay Circuits are unacceptable for dependable high-speed connections. This is primarily due to differences in the way that bandwidth resources are allocated. In light of the above information, Locl.Net has made the decision to NOT be involved with Frame Relay circuits when offering Point-to-Point circuits. Internet bandwidth differs from circuit bandwidth. Point-to-Point circuits are merely the transport mechanism for moving Internet data between your company and Locl.Net. A good analogy for this is to imagine Point-to-Point circuits as a "pipe" and Internet bandwidth as the "water" inside the "pipe". Locl.Net prices Internet bandwidth to our customers in the same manner that our bandwidth is priced to us. This is in 64k "slots". Slots are simply a way to divide a T-1 (1544kbps) into 24 channels of 64k each. The following chart illustrates monthly pricing for Internet bandwidth. |

Hardware Costs High Speed Internet connectivity requires a "Router" to operate. Locl.Net has identified the router with the least cost that will still fulfill our customers needs. The customer can either purchase this or Locl.Net can make the purchase for you. Following are the specifications for the router.
