N.I.F. 55

______________________

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
NIF 55 is a two component solvent based epoxy coating that exhibits excellent characteristics for abrasion resistance and chemical resistance. Another outstanding feature for this product is the excellent substrate penetration which results in excellent adhesion characteristics.

RECOMMENDED FOR: For sealing or topcoating of concrete, wood or steel. This product can withstand exposure to many common solvents and chemicals.

SPECIFYING INFORMATION:

SOLIDS BY WEIGHT: The solids by weight for the system mixed = 53% (+,- 2%)

SOLIDS BY VOLUME: The solids by volume for the system mixed = 43% (+, - 2%)

VOLATILE ORGANIC CONTENT: The v.o.c. for part A = 3.4 pounds per gallon while the v.o.c. for part B = 5.0 pounds per gallon.

COLORS AVAILABLE: Clear

RECOMMENDED FILM THICKNESS:
We recommend applying 7 mils per coat (wet thickness) to achieve 3 mils dry.

THEORETICAL COVERAGE PER GALLON: Each mixed gallon when applied at 7 mils thick will yield 229 square feet, depending on porosity and type of substrate.

MIX RATIO: The mix ratio is 1 to 1 by volume, ie, one part A to one part B by volume.

PACKAGING INFORMATION: Available in 2 gallon kits and 10 gallon kits, a 2 gallon kit = 1 gallon part A at 9.0#/gal (approx.) and 1 gallon part B at 8.0#/gal (approx.).

SHELF LIFE: 1 year.

FINISH CHARACTERISTICS: High gloss
(70 - 90 at 60 degrees @ Erichsen glossmeter).

ABRASION RESISTANCE: Taber abrasor
CS-17 calibrase wheel with 1000 gram load and 500 cycles yields a 34.0 mg loss.

IMPACT RESISTANCE: Gardner impact, direct = 50 in.lb. (passed).

HARDNESS: Shore D = 79

FLEXIBILITY: No cracks on a 1/8" mandrel.

Unless preceded by a minus sign, the figures represent a weight gain. A weight loss indicates leaching and is signified by a minus sign. Absorption and leaching occur to some degree simultaneously in all testing. Testing was carried out on discs 1.75" in diameter and 0.2" thick.

PRIMER: None required.

TOPCOAT: Clarity of color may be affected by high humidity coupled with low temperatures (for added chemical resistance or U.V. stability topcoat with an aliphatic urethane).
