MIXING AND
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
NORTHERN WATERBASED SKID PROOFER
PRODUCT MIXING: This product comes
pre-packaged by weight. Kits should be mixed in their entirety.
This product is an emulsion product and should be mixed well
before using. Periodically, remix to insure aggregate
distribution consistency.
PRODUCT APPLICATION: The mixed
material can be applied by brush, roller, or spray. Maintain
temperatures within recommended ranges. When the end of the pot
life has been reached, you will find that the material becomes
hard to apply and will actually tend to roll back up at the
roller. Stop application when this happens.
DRY TIME: Light foot traffic16-24 hours at 70 degrees F.
Recoat 7-10 hours.
CONCRETE PREPARATION FOR FLOOR COATING:
Acid etching solution will not work properly on greasy, oily, or
painted surfaces. This concrete must first be cleaned with
either, Northern Aqua-Blue or Northern Scrub-Free, for heavy film
buildup removal.
Acid solution should always start at lowest level of a floor
usually the drains. Apply in circular fashion out away from
drains. Remember acid solution will not work properly when poured
on "spent" or "used" acid solution. Acid
solution will "foam" or "froth" instantly
when poured on the concrete. Slow or no reaction is a sign that
the concrete was not ready to be etched. Clean and repeat above
procedure.
Muratic and Hydrochloric acids are available commercially at most
hardware or pool supply stores. Mix 2 parts water with 1 part
acid for good etching. Using a plastic watering sprinkler, apply
the mixed acid solution (always add water to the can first) at
spread rate of 50 sq. ft. per gallon. Acid solution must be
"worked" into the substrate with a stiff bristle broom
to completely agitate the floor. Once acid solution stops
frothing (approximately 10-15 minutes) flush the remaining
solution to drain and rinse floor thoroughly. "Do not let
solution dry". Rinse floor a second time with some household
ammonia to neutralize any acid residue that might remain.
