MIXING AND
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
NORTHERN FAST PATCH
PRODUCT MIXING: It is important
that the liquids be mixed together first. Mix the liquids in an
oversized container thoroughly and until streak free. After the
liquids are thoroughly mixed, add the aggregate. Mix in the
aggregate with slow speed mixing equipment such as a jiffy mixer
or a rotating bucket mixer. It is equally important that enough
time is spent mixing in the aggregate to insure that the
aggregate is thoroughly wetted out.
PRIMER: No primer is necessary. This
material is self-priming. However, any suitable primer can be
used.
PRODUCT APPLICATION: Apply the mixed material at
1/8 to 1/4 inch thickness. Apply the material with a hard trowel or other suitable
application equipment. Do not over-trowel the material as this may cause isolated
blisters to form. Maintain temperatures within recommended ranges.
DRY TIME: Dries in 45-60 minutes at
32 degrees F, full cure 2-7 days.
CONCRETE PREPARATION FOR FLOOR COATING:
Acid etching solution will not work properly on greasy, oily, or
painted surfaces. This concrete must first be cleaned with
either, Northern Aqua-Blue, or Northern Scrub-Free, for heavy
film buildup removal.
Acid solution should always start at the lowest level of a floor,
usually the drains. Apply in a circular fashion out away from
drains. Remember acid solution will not work properly when poured
on "spent" or "used" acid solution. Acid
solution should "foam" or "froth" instantly
when poured on the concrete. Slow or no reaction is a sign the
concrete was not ready to be etched. Clean and repeat above
procedure.
Muratic or Hydrochloric acids are available commercially at most
hardware or pool supply stores. Mix 2 parts water to 1 part acid
for good etching. Using a plastic watering sprinkler, apply the
mixed aid solution (always add water to the can first) at a
spread rate of 50 sq. ft. per gallon. Acid solution must be
worked into the substrate with a stiff bristle broom to
completely agitate the floor. Once acid solution stops frothing
(approximately 10-15 minutes) flush the remaining solution to
drain and rinse floor thoroughly. "Do not let solution
dry". Rinse floor a second time with some household ammonia
to neutralize any acid residue that might remain.
